Our care assistants are fully qualified in Social Care and are all C.R.B. checked. We fully comply with the highest quality standards in health and social care as laid down by Wolverhampton City Council’s contract service specification.
The centre is lucky enough to have its own minibus with a tail lift at the rear for wheelchair accessibility. All health and safety regulations are strictly adhered to. It may be possible for us to collect you from your home, depending on the area in which you live. Our driver and escort will pick you up between 9am and 11am, and return you safely home again between 3pm and 4.30pm in the afternoon. You are quite welcome to make your own travel arrangements if you wish.
Our main aim is to encourage social stimulation, interaction and help you remain as mobile and independent as possible, and have a great day out at the same time. We hope to do this by offering a wide and varied choice of activities each day. For more details about the range of activities that we off please have a look at our Activities page.
When you first arrive at the centre we will ask if you have any special dietary requirements. The cook will always have an alternative meal on offer. On your arrival you will be offered tea or coffee and toast, (occasionally we have bacon baps available for a small charge). A two course lunch is served in our dining room at 12.30pm. A sample menu can be seen by clicking here.
St. Columba’s Day Centre was purpose built, so it is wheelchair friendly. It has a slightly inclined ramp at the entrance and hand rails throughout the building. We have toilet facilities adapted for wheelchair users, with raised toilet seats and a pull cord alarm system in place. Our service is open to people of any religion or faith. We are open Monday to Friday from 8.30am until 4.30pm.
